IIT Madras Announces PhD, Direct PhD & MS (by Research)

 Chennai, March 2021: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, an Institute of National Importance, has opened application window for PhD/Direct PhD/MS (by Research) Admission July 2021 Semester. Researchers conceded to PhD and MS programs under Regular plan are qualified for the accompanying Half-Time Research Assistantship (HTRA). 

Partnerships: Scholars conceded to PhD and M.S. programs under Regular plan are qualified for the accompanying Half-Time Research Assistantship (HTRA). PhD Candidates will get Rs 31,000/ - Per Month while MS (By Research) applicants will get Rs 12,400 Per Month. They should labor for 8 hours of the week in the Departments to procure this assistantship.

Qualification Conditions For Regular Research Scholars: 

PhD in Engineering: 

a) Candidates with a Master's certificate in Engineering/Technology with a decent scholastic record/Master's certificate by Research in Engineering/Technology with a decent scholarly record/5 Year Dual Degree in Engineering or 5 Year BS+MS Dual degree from Centrally Funded Technical Institute with a decent scholastic record. 

b) 2 Year MSc from IITs (section through JAM) with 8.0 or more are absolved from qualifying in National Level Examinations. 

c) Candidates with Master's certificate in Sciences with a decent scholastic record and of extraordinary legitimacy are qualified, for the significant Engineering disciplines (as chosen by conceding offices). Applicants should have a legitimate GATE score or UGC-JRF/NET/CSIR-JRF or comparable capability in the significant zone reasonable for the time of enlistment. 

On account of up-and-comers with Bachelor's certificate in Engineering/Technology AND have over 5 years applicable work insight after the Master's certificate in Engineering/Technology, the necessity of a grade might be postponed by the Selection Committee. 

PhD in Sciences:

Graduate degree in Engineering/Technology or 5 Year BS+MS Dual degree/5 Year Integrated degree from Centrally Funded Technical Institute are qualified with a decent scholarly record. 

2 Year MSc from IITs (passage through JAM) with 8.0 or more are absolved from qualifying in National level assessments. 

Understudies who get more than 8.0 CGPA in M.Sc. in Science Departments of IIT Madras can be conceded straightforwardly to their PhD program in Sciences with meet at departmental level. 

PhD in Humanities and Social Sciences: 

a) (I) Master's certificate/double degree or comparable in an applicable control AND Qualifying UGC – NET 

or on the other hand JRF/CSIR-JRF/GATE Score or comparable capability viable for the current year in the 

important region or global level post alumni confirmation assessment like GRE (Non-HTRA). 

Or on the other hand 

(ii) Master's certificate in Engineering/Technology or 5 Year BS+MS Dual degree/5 Year Integrated degree from Centrally Funded Technical Institute with a decent scholastic record. 

b) At least 3 years of involvement with research/industry in lieu of the above assessment. (This statement is relevant just for Non-HTRA up-and-comers)
